The world's first and most successful Internet dating service, Match.com was launched in 1995. Since its trailblazing inception it has achieved over 20 million sign ups, and Internet dating has exploded all over the World Wide Web.

But as far as virtual dating goes, the gay community had it sussed out years before.

Gay men and women had to get savvy early on in regards to social networking because homosexuality was illegal up until the 1960's. But thanks to the Sexual Offences Act 1967, gay men could openly declare their sexuality, and finally canoodle - if only in private.

Prior to decriminalisation, the gay community had no choice but to get very creative in regards to where and how they met publicly. A gay language, a take on the slang form Polari, was adapted as a subculture code, in order for gays to communicate in public without arousing suspicion.

Gay men resorted to meeting in bathhouses or outdoor areas, referred to as 'cruising grounds'. Acknowledged by the gay community as safe havens for men to hook up, 'gay cruising' as it became known, usually took place in remote spaces like parks, picnic areas and lay-bys - out of the general public's view.

Of course gay social interaction wasn't confined to cruising areas only; private gay clubs and parties were in full swing long before it became legal. Gay club culture sprung up commercially everywhere during the 1980's, with gay publications having paved the way for gay social interaction since the early seventies.

The subtle and inventive methods gay men utilised to meet one another during the 'dark ages' of gay social connectivity was, in reality, a primitive precursor to what we call social networking today.

It was the advent of gay chat lines in the 90's however, that enabled gay interconnectivity to really take off. It was at this time that gay men began using phone chat dating services to network with one another worldwide.

Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and the plethora of online dating sites available to us today, weren't even invented when gay men were connecting globally via gay chat lines. It was inevitable then that gay dating on the Internet would prove to be an instant hit.

Throughout the 90's gay online social networking flourished to such an extent that its now rare to meet a gay man without at least one gay social network profile.

Let's be honest. It doesn't get much hotter than two straight guys sharing a tongue sandwich.

We here at gay chat mecca Maleforce wholeheartedly support the sudden outbreak of guy-on-guy tonsil tickling that's going on in British universities and high schools, apparently.

According to a new study, same-sex kissing amongst young straight men is becoming the norm. In fact an overwhelming majority of the male students surveyed said they had kissed a male heterosexual friend on the lips. Ok, settle down now - here comes the scientific bit.

The study, reported in the journal Archives Of Sexual Behaviour (note: must subscribe!) revealed that 89% of 145 male students surveyed had at one point locked lips with a fellow straight male student.

An astounding 39% admitted that they had partaken in a "sustained" kiss according to Bath university sociologist Eric Anderson and his team who carried out the survey earlier this year.

Apparently it's all stemmed from British football players getting all emotional and touchy-feely on the pitch of late. The report mentions that the tender gesture that's becoming more frequent between straight males is completely non-sexual. (Sorry!).

However, on a joyous note, we can confirm that lots of guys calling our gay chat lines identify as straight. Whether they've decided to be a gay for a day, or just love teasing the gay boys, we're not complaining!

As first dates go, we'd say it was a humdinger!

Soho was feelin' the force Wednesday evening as Maleforce Mobile took over The Edge! It may have been nippy out but upstairs in the Alfresco bar the gay chat was hot! hot! hot! as Maleforce Date Night kicked off in super style.

The 'Fresco's oh so fashionable yet romantic ambience provided the perfect backdrop for our night of flirtatious fun! Think candlelit Club Tropicana complete with funky foliage, are-you-sure-we're-in-London-and-not-Ibiza neon cocktails and a fairy lit white baby grand. All that was missing was a young'n'sexy George Michael floating around on a day-glo lilo. Hey, but you can't have it all!

And who better to host our first ever Soho shindig than scene-superstar, Miss Kimberly? Looking suitably amorous in a slinky black catsuit Miss K, mic in hand, got the date party started with Pizzazzz! Fun was had by one and all. With some seriously sexy singletons in attendance, as first dates go, we'd say for many it was a night to remember!

The Gay Chat Team have been on the search for a couple of hunky hombres forever to pose for the new Maleforce Mobile adverts (well its a tough call, but someone has to do it!).

We take our jobs here very seriously though. It seems like we've spent months slaving over model portfolios in our quest to find the perfect guys to front our campaign... it's been absolute torture! Ok... enough teasing!

So, you can imagine the mayhem at Maleforce Mansions when word got around that the very first Maleforce Mobile photo shoot was underway. Let's just say we weren't short of volunteers to 'assist' in any way they could! Suddenly the office amenities attendant became an 'expert' lighting technician... and the new junior in accounts revealed he'd been powdering down male models 'for years'. Yeah, right.

Thankfully, hot shot scene snapper Gaz was on hand to manage the madness. Sir, we bow to you! Not only did Gaz help find our new hot models Charlie & Adam, he did an absolutely amazing job! How he manages to concentrate on the job we'll never know!

So what can we tell you about cheeky Charlie and the absolutely-adorable Adam (aka 'The Maleforce Mates')?... Well, as they say, a picture says a thousand words... let's just say you will not be disappointed... stay tuned for our forthcoming ads... you'll be SO glad you did!
